Dear Students,
A new academic school year is starting...before telling you how we are going to work this year, just a few thoughts and just a few words to remind you what is really important for you as students and as citizens at 3rd year of Compulsory Secondary Education, where you should really know what is basic and important in your life.... WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES PEOPLE TRULY GREAT???
It´s not the jobs you have, nor the grades you get. It´s not athletics, musical talent, whether you are famous, nor even how intelligent you are. All excepcional people have certain qualities in common. These unique qualities are called CHARACTER TRAITS. A person may be the fastest runner in the world, but someone who doesn´t show RESPECT for other people is merely a great athlete, which is altogether different from being a great person. Someone else may have the best grades in school, but without HONESTY that student is simply a person with an impressive report card.
People are great if their thoughts and actions are: HONEST, RESPECTFUL, COURAGEOUS, CARING, DILIGENT, LOYAL, FAIR, TRUSTWORTHY, RESPONSIBLE and TOLERANT. Additionally, great people possess INTEGRITY and are good CITIZENS in their communities.
This is a brief "speech" guys to take into consideration along the whole academic year, that´s why I want you to choose one of the words in italics and write a comment on the blog with its definition and how you are going to put in practice that characteristic in your school life and your life in general during this year.
Before finishig to explain this task I have good news for you all....our teacher assitant KRISTIE MOYLE is going to be with us again this year!!!Lucky you guys!!! Take advantage of her and be nice and friendly with her in this new year in which she is travelling as you know, from far, far, far away!!!

I select the word "courageous" and I define it as: the person who faces something even if she/he is afraid.
ResponderEliminarI think that I can improve it, for example: when we have to talk in another language or when we have to speak in front of a lot of people.

For me means to have more bravery for some things, for example: be more brave to be who you are, be yourself, or in the oral expositions of some subjects at school. I think I am not enough courageous but in this school year and in my life in general I will try to be more than now, without pass the limit.

Caring means to take always care of the people you love, and try your best to keep them safe and help them if they get on trouble.

A person that is respectful is a person that think that it's doesn't a problem if the other person is from other country,if is from other religion...if the other person it's different. I think that i'm respectful with the other persons and i try to change the opinion of the people that think that they are different, because they aren't.

A LOYAL person is the one who is next to you everytime, in good and bad periods of your life.

I´ve chosen the word "trustworthy". It relates to all those people in who you can rely on for everything at every moment. I think this school year will be very hard and demanding, so probably a good way for turning it into a little bit more relaxing is working all together and helping us each other, I mean being trustworthy with your partner. He/she may return the favor back to you one day in the future.

About it, I was thinking on it, and finally I have choosen respectful, because I think it is very important to be tolerant with the rest of the people that are around us. The ideology, the faith, the way to think is different to each other. Sometimes, we can agree with the rest, but, not always you are gonna agree. If you are not respectful with other people, you can make feel them bad, and they shouldn't, so I think we must try to respect our friends, classmates or whoever.
I'll try to respect the people that are around me respecting their ideas, and permitting them to do whatever they want, because I want for me the same I do with the othres.

I have chosen the word CARING because this is one of my qualities.
A caring person I think is who takes care of the people, they will be able to help you always and if you need something they will help you to take it. They will support and assist you always.
You can put is in practice helping old people to cross the street, help young children if they fall down, if someone is sick do all they need for feeling better and a lot of other things.

ResponderEliminarAs I told you in the class, I believe the characteristics that Ascen has mentioned are the most important things you possess now AND will possess throughout your entire lifetime.
It was very difficult for me to choose one word so I have chosen two words: LOYAL and CARING. Many of you have chosen LOYAL which shows me it’s important to you.
To be ‘loyal’ means you will often have to be strong, courageous, trustworthy and responsible, as there will be many times you will have to choose the option that is more difficult. You will have to put great importance on the needs of others – a very rewarding thing. Remember that a few loyal friends are so much better than lots of “not-so-loyal” friends…
Now for the word ‘caring’…. Human beings need connection with each other and need to know they are valued. So, remember to show you care, even if it’s as small as giving someone a smile…. Rather than write about this characteristic, read these 2 quotes and think about them:
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around”.
